MAINSAIL
Racing

A number of todays racing and cruising sailors are looking for more than just reliability in their mainsails.

Performance through superior design, a radial panel configuration, which precisely aligns panels to the loadings, or our more economic cross cut panel configuration allied with manufacturing technology that has been developed over thirty years in the sailmaking business.

Combine this with the finest quality polyester/pentex fabrics that have been developed in conjunction with our cloth manufacturer in the U.S.A. and you have a sail that is FAST, DURABLE, and is SUPERIOR VALUE for MONEY.

FEATURES:

New: Reduced seam slippage.

New: Greater vertical fairness.

New: Precise thread alignment.

New: Shape stability second to none.

New: Light weight patches. With the development of new spinnaker fabrics we can now make our patches lighter, which enables the clews to fly much better in the light winds making the spinnaker a faster alround sail.

New: Stainless steel Rutgerson pressed rings in reefs reduce weight in the leech enhancing alround performance.

FULL LENGTH BATTENS:

1. Allows a full size roach without creating short term durability problems.

2. Eliminates flogging when hoisting and reefing and thus increases fabric life.

3. Increases the shape life of the sail.

4. Assists in the reefing by holding the clew out.

5. Easier to hoist and lower (especially with lazy jacks).

DESIGN + MANUFACTURE:

3D Sailmaker design system and the Relax stress analysis program are the premier programs of their type in use today.

These programs are used in all new designs from dinghies to mega yachts to the smallest trysail and the largest spinnakers, all sails are designed and tested to bring out their optimum performance in all conditions.

All Lidgard lofts have invested a lot of time and money on precision plotters / cutters, in doing so we are able to cut and plot our designs to the nearest .05mm, creating the accuracy that is needed when manufacturing high performance racing and cruising sails.
